The term “mortgage broker” can be used very liberally. Many mortgage individuals who have two or three investors consider themselves “mortgage brokers”. At Mortgage Portfolio Services, we feel that there is an implied covenant between broker and client that we will shop many sources to find the best mortgage possible for the client. But how can a broker live up to this covenant if they only have two or three investors? In our opinion, we have a duty to create relationships with many mortgage sources in order to truly offer our clients brokerage services. The vast reach of our investor network includes innumerable national and international banks, mortgage houses and investors to give us access to an unbelievable number of mortgage products offering our clients tremendous flexibility and a closing rate of almost 98% historically.
